Some feel he may try the route of the Rajya Sabha to stay in the national politics game so that he can keep the party in check from Delhi while still having influence in Parliament. Conversely, internal dissidence in AAP and the increasing pressure on the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab have further strengthened these speculations. Congress and other opposition leaders assert that AAP is losing its grip in Punjab, and Kejriwal may be thinking of becoming the Chief Minister there.

Kejriwal’s thinking can also be gauged from his recent activities. After the Delhi defeat, he held a meeting with Punjab MLAs and ministers, which the party termed a “strategy session.” However, the opposition sees it as an attempt to strengthen his position in Punjab.
